ABOUT US

We help drivers save money on car repairs and diagnostics.

Who are we?

We’re a small-but-mighty team dedicated to making car care easier and more affordable.

What do we do?

We pair your car’s diagnostic system to your smartphone, which means your phone can actually help fix your car and save you $1,000s.

What motivates us?

We want to make your car’s health information easy to access so you can save time and money over the life of your vehicle.

Our story

In 2015, three Georgia Tech grads - John Gattuso, Julian Knight, and Frederick Grimm - founded FIXD.

The trio grew up working on cars, and were known among all their friends and family as ‘The Car Guys’.

People would always call them when they had car problems, and then call again after they visited a mechanic to see if they were getting a fair price.

“We know that horrible sense of dread and anxiety you feel at the mechanic when you have to ask yourself ‘How much will this repair cost? How will I know if I’m paying an honest price – or getting ripped off?’

The requests kept coming — so they decided to create a way to empower their friends and family to better understand their car (and ensure they never got ripped off by a mechanic).

Over the next two years they designed and built a device that would easily translate car problems into simple terms for drivers: the FIXD sensor.

Meet our founders

John Gattuso
Co-Founder and CEO

John Gattuso has always been a car guy. Growing up with a single mom, he was responsible for taking care of the family vehicle, and friends and family always knew they could count on John to help them fix their car. Out of his passion for helping others and understanding the inner workings of the automobile, John got the idea for FIXD while he was still a student at Georgia Tech.

Frederick Grimm
Co-Founder and COO

As the Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer at FIXD, Frederick Grimm helps keep the ship sailing smoothly while staying on course with the future vision of the company. Fred’s background in industrial engineering at Georgia Tech came in extremely handy when the three co-founders were fielding hundreds of orders a day with the help of their friends. His perseverance, creativity, and eye for optimization helped them turn a great idea into the thriving operation it is today.

Eric Pate
CTO

Since 2017 Eric Pate has been with FIXD as our CIO and in 2023 became our CTO. An Electrical Engineering graduate of Georgia Tech, Eric is an expert in OBDII vehicle communication and “pretty much anything IOS” in his own words. He’s currently leading FIXD into the future as we incorporate AI-driven diagnostics and other new technologies. Eric’s passion for tech has helped make FIXD an even more helpful product for our growing base of customers.
